Docebo Integration Setup Guide

  • Updated

Beta: The Docebo Integration is currently available as a beta feature. Your feedback helps shape future improvements and capabilities. If you have questions, ideas, or need assistance, contact your Customer Success Manager or lms-support@honehq.com.

Overview

This guide walks you through configuring the Docebo Integration and connecting your Docebo platform to Hone.

The setup process includes:

  1. Creating a Docebo integration user.
  2. Starting the integration setup in Hone.
  3. Creating a Docebo OAuth 2.0 application.
  4. Connecting Docebo to Hone.
  5. Creating the enrollment webhook.

The integration must be configured by a Docebo Superadmin and a Hone administrator.

Step 1: Create the Docebo Integration User

Hone uses a dedicated Docebo Power User to securely access your Docebo platform.

Create the Docebo User

  1. In Docebo, open User Management.
  2. Click the plus (+) button and select New User.
  3. Enter the required user information.
  4. Give the user a descriptive job role, such as Hone Integration.
  5. Create the user.
  6. Record the username. You will need this later when configuring the integration in Hone.

Create the Power User Profile

Create a Power User profile for the Hone integration user with the following permissions:

  • Courses > All permissions
  • Enrollment > All permissions
  • ILT Session > All permissions
  • User > View

After creating the profile:

  1. Assign the profile to the Hone integration user.
  2. Assign the appropriate group or user resources to the Power User.
  3. Have the integration user log in to Docebo at least once after the resources have been assigned.

Note: New branch, group, or user resource assignments are not effective until the Power User logs in for the first time after the assignment is made.

Step 2: Start the Integration Setup in Hone

Before creating the OAuth application in Docebo, generate the authentication files required to configure the application.

  1. Sign in to Hone as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to Account Settings > Integrations > LMS.
  3. Select Docebo.
  4. On the Authentication step, click Generate files.
  5. Download the generated Hone OAuth certificate bundle.

Keep this page open. You will return to Hone after configuring the OAuth application in Docebo.

Step 3: Create the Docebo OAuth 2.0 Application

Next, create the OAuth application Hone will use to authenticate with Docebo.

  1. In Docebo, open the Admin Menu.
  2. Under API and SSO, select Manage.
  3. Select API Credentials.
  4. Click Add OAuth2 App.
  5. Enter the required application information.
  6. Open Advanced Settings.
  7. Enable JWT authentication.
  8. Upload the Hone public key from the authentication files downloaded from Hone.
  9. Confirm the application configuration.
  10. Activate the application by clicking the checkmark. The checkmark turns green when the application is active.

Record the application's Client ID. You will need it to complete the connection in Hone.

Step 4: Connect Docebo to Hone

Return to the Docebo integration setup in Hone and enter the authentication information from your Docebo configuration.

Hone field Value
Client ID Client ID from the Docebo OAuth application
Client username Username of the Docebo integration Power User
Docebo platform host Your Docebo platform host, for example your-company.docebosaas.com

After entering the required information:

  1. Click Test Connection.
  2. Hone will verify that it can authenticate with your Docebo platform.
  3. If the test succeeds, click Connect to enable the integration.

After the integration is connected, Hone will begin publishing supported learning content to Docebo.

Step 5: Create the Enrollment Webhook

The enrollment webhook allows supported enrollment changes made in Docebo to be synchronized with Hone.

  1. In Docebo, open the Admin Menu.
  2. Under Webhooks, select Manage.
  3. Click the plus (+) button to create a webhook.
  4. Enter a descriptive webhook name.
  5. Set the payload URL to:

    https://app.honehq.com/hooks/docebo/learner-enrollment

  6. Add the following events:
    • ILT session enrollment update
    • User enrollment in ILT session
    • User unenrollment in ILT session
  7. Create the webhook.
  8. Configure the webhook authentication using the credentials provided by Hone.
  9. Activate the webhook.

If you do not have the required webhook credentials, contact lms-support@honehq.com.

Troubleshooting

The connection test fails

Verify that:

  • The Docebo OAuth application is active.
  • JWT authentication is enabled.
  • The Hone public key was uploaded to the OAuth application.
  • The Client ID matches the Docebo OAuth application.
  • The Client username matches the integration Power User.
  • The Docebo platform host is correct.
  • The integration Power User has the required permissions and resources.

Enrollment changes are not synchronizing

Verify that:

  • The enrollment webhook is active.
  • The webhook payload URL is correct.
  • All required enrollment events are selected.
  • The webhook authentication credentials are configured correctly.
